If you are thinking about running for the Board in 2010, all candidates for the board must meet the following qualifications:

(1) Persons wishing to be elected must have been members in good standing for one continuous year prior to April 30th of the year in which they seek election, with dues paid in full, and no lapse in membership. If elected, they must maintain their membership status for the duration of their term.

(2) Only one member of a couple or family may run for a board seat. Spouses, significant others, and family members of board candidates may not run for arbiter or ombudsman the same election year.

(3) Professional dominants and professional submissives are not eligible to hold office.

(4) Anyone running for a board position must have access to e-mail and be able to receive phone calls during the day. (Email is the primary method used to communicate between board members, staff, and the membership).

All candidates for the position of Arbiter or Ombudsman must meet all of the above criteria. In addition, Arbiter and Ombudsman candidates must have the following additional qualifications:

(1) Candidates must have been a member of Black Rose for at least 3 continuous years prior to April 30th of the year in which they seek election. If elected, they must maintain their membership for the duration of their term.

(2) Candidates for election to the Board of Directors, their spouses, family members and/or significant others are not eligible to run for Arbitrator or Ombudsman. Candidates for Arbitrator or Ombudsman must have not been board members for a year prior to the date which they would take office.
(3) Individuals working as Professional Dominants or Professional Submissives are not eligible to serve as Arbitrator or Ombudsman.

(4) Individuals wishing to run for the office of Arbiter or Ombudsman must have been off the board for a year prior to taking office (cannot run as a seated board member).

A call for volunteers for the ballot counting in June will be forthcoming.

The membership rolls will close on April 15th. New members after April 15th will not be eligible to vote.
