CATS Goes To See Chess At Signature Theater (8:00PM - 10:00PM)
Chess is a throwback to the Cold War era, a musical whose story is (very) loosely based on the battle between Soviet and US grandmasters Boris Spasky and Bobby Fischer. The music is written by the male half of ABBA. The lyrics are written by Tim Rice (the lyricist half of Andrew Weber-Tim Rice (Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar)). It is the source of the 1984 hit “One Night in Bangkok” (the last show tune to date to hit the top five in the US charts.) It’s also the source of the duet “I Know Him So Well,” which hit the charts when covered by Whitney Houston with her mother Cissy Houston, in 1987. We’ll meet for a bite before the show, and then watch the players be played. In Shirlington, VA; details on pre/post-show socializing sent to those who indicate they’ve got tickets for that night. Das vadanya! Email Cats@br.org for more information All CATS activities are 21 and older.

What I Wish I Knew When I Came Into The Scene With Sas And Sarah Noel (8:00PM - 9:30PM)
Between the two of them, Sarah and Sas have nearly 40 years of kink experience - some good, some bad, and some hilarious. This class will focus on things that every person (new or old) in the public scene should know, including when it's ok to touch, how to approach someone you don't know, and how to keep yourself safe. Sarah Noel fell down the rabbit hole a decade ago and hasn't looked back. Identifying as queer, an edge player, a badass bottom, a submissive, and a very twisted little girl, Sarah is her happiest when being treated very, very badly by intensely cruel individuals. She is a DC local and can frequently be found at the Crucible. Sas is a mean, nasty, evil, cruel, rotten, vicious SOB when he wants to be, and a... no, never mind, he's like that pretty much all of the time. A poster child for the "never say never in the scene" cliché, he tends to play on the edge, and owes a lot to what he learned in his early days from Black Rose. Sas enjoys giving back to the community whenever folks will listen without the use of shackles and/or duct tape.

Spanking With Philip (8:00PM - 9:30PM)
Spanking, in the presenter's opinion, has always held a rather under appreciated presence in BDSM community. Considered by most a tool for "warm-up" or a one-off scene, spanking can in fact be considered one of the most difficult scenes to master. It requires an intuitive openness to the individual being spanked, a constant awareness of that individuals reactions and the ability to adapt quickly and seamlessly to the interaction. The natural bond formed between "spanker" and "spankee" through continuous physical contact leads to a deeper intimacy and can be a gateway to more advanced scenes. The presenter will focus on the interaction of the participants during the scene; safety, theory, scenarios, the underestimated intimacy of spanking, the power of spanking including but not limited to use as punishment and use as a tool to go beyond ones current limits. Philip, a graphic designer and illustrator, has been in the scene for enough years to know he can stop counting and caring. He has been a member of Black Rose, on the board of BR-TNG, worked at the BDSM fetish venue, BOUND and has been a perennial staffer for the pansexual event Dark Odyssey. A distracted man of leisure and vice, he has enjoyed a love of the curves on the human form, wrestling/takedowns, planning gangbangs, impact and force play, knife play, role-play scenes, taboos, mummification and of course spanking--all of which he has presented on at one time or another. He also enjoys non-sequiturs, loathes writing bios and considers sarcasm ritual. In his time in “the scene” all he has learned is that there is still, thankfully, much to learn and hopes he never stops learning. He also hates clowns.

Civil Engineering: Methods For Approaching Changing Relationship Rules With Elkor, Scott, And Peitho (8:00PM - 9:30PM)
About the class: Everyone talks about communication as the most important part of a relationship. So when things go wrong, often the blame is placed on a “failure to communicate.” Was it the communication that was the problem, or the follow-through? When the topic is a problem between the people in the relationship, they might be talking to each other, but no one is acting on those words. This discussion is about getting from communication to results. Once you are communicating, the next step is how to take that conversation through to a conclusion. We'll discuss how to analyze your Rules/Boundaries/Agreements/Expectations, summarize the purpose of root cause analysis, and offer techniques on how to stop the mis-communication merry-go-round. Why the three of us? We're poly kinky geeks with management experience in the same quality system. We recognize that the knowledge and skills that people have in working on/for the relationship make the difference, regardless of the number of participants. Having Poly proclivities for years, and a fascination with interpersonal dynamics, Elkor has applied an Engineering mentality to "figuring this out." Through hard work, observation, quite a number of "learning opportunities" and the help of his partner since 1999, he's come up with some processes, and wants to share them. Scott has been communicating relationships to death since 2003. Those relationships have included a several-year, live-in, V-shaped relationship, multiple girlfriends, and a number of scene-focused relationships. Peitho has been in her current relationship since 1999. Through multiple poly-permutations, she's rarely arrived within budget, and only partly on time. However, she has a quality product, and is proud of her partners and partnerships.
